Tavarua Island Surf Camp

Tavarua Island is a two-hectare heart-shaped island in the Mamanuca archipelago, approximately 25 kilometres southwest of Nadi. The island became one of the world's most famous surf destinations through its proximity to Cloudbreak — a left-hand reef break on the outer edge of the Frigate Passage that has hosted decades of professional surfing events and introduced the concept of the premium island surf camp to the global surf travel market.

The surf programme revolves around Cloudbreak and Restaurants — a right-hand reef break directly in front of the island that is gentler than Cloudbreak and ideal for intermediate surfers. Boats run continuously throughout the day to both breaks, and the camp's guides have spent decades reading the Frigate Passage across every swell and tide configuration. On days when Cloudbreak is breaking at its most powerful, the guide team manages access carefully, ensuring guests are positioned at breaks that match their ability.

The island operates on a fully all-inclusive model: accommodation, all meals, unlimited boat access, and equipment are covered in the package price. Fiji's surf season runs May through October when the South Pacific's winter swells track north with clockwork consistency. Outside the peak window, the camp remains open for guests who prefer smaller, more manageable conditions at Restaurants and the surrounding reef breaks.
